Description

Many aviation accidents and incidents are caused by warm weather meteorological phenomena. In this course, the pilot will gain a better understanding of meteorology and will be better equipped to make safety decisions during hail, lightning, high and low altitude turbulence, low level wind shear, strong surface crosswinds, and heavy rain.

By improving the pilot’s ability to interpret warm weather hazards, they will be able to assess the risks involved in trying to beat hazardous weather to the runway or rushing a departure before hazardous weather arrives. This course is compliant with Transport Canada CASS 724.115(6)(j).

Course Objectives

With the Warm Weather Operations course, you will learn to describe the characteristics of warm weather that can cause aircraft accidents and incidents, identify the ways to avoid hazardous warm weather phenomena, and be able to explain various products such as charts and satellite images that aid in anticipating hazardous warm weather occurrences.
