LiveLearning® Support


Requirements for LiveLearning Delivery

Desktop or Laptop:

    • Stable, high-speed internet connection (5Mbps or faster)
    • Cisco WebEx Meetings app version 41.11.x
      • Note: Automatically installs when launching course or can be downloaded from Webex downloads
    • Operating System:
      • ChromeOS (Chromebook)
      • MacOS X 10.13 (High Sierra) or newer
      • Windows 10 or newer (PC)
    • Browser:
      • Google Chrome (recommended)
        • Note: Google Chrome is the only browser available on the Chromebook
      • Apple Safari
        • Note: Apple Safari is only available on Apple MacOS and iOS
      • Mozilla Firefox
      • Microsoft Edge
        • Note: Microsoft Internet Explorer is deprecated and no longer supported

Apple iPad:

    • Stable, high-speed internet connection (5Mbps or faster)
    • Cisco WebEx Meetings app version 41.11.x
      • Note: Automatically installs when launching course or can be downloaded from the App Store
    • Operating System:
      • Apple iOS 12 or newer
        • Note: Webex Meetings on iOS 13.3 and later has a known bug which can be resolved by following the procedures in the Error code: 30000 section.
    • Browser:
      • Apple Safari
        • Note: Apple Safari is the ONLY supported browser for eLearning/LiveLearning on iPad

Hardware:

    • Audio & Video Requirements
      • Headset with a microphone OR a stable telephone line (long distance charges will apply)
        • Note: FAA regulations require a web camera with 360p or higher resolution for aircraft-recurrent programs and FAA-approved courses.

Installation and Event Connection Test

Webex for all devices and operating systems can be installed by launching your LiveLearning course from the FlightSafety eLearning website.


Note: If you have forgotten your login credentials select the Forgot Your Password? link and enter the email address used for FlightSafety eLearning/LiveLearning. You will receive a link to reset your password. If you cannot recall the email address, complete the Contact FlightSafety eLearning/LiveLearning form and select Password Reset / Username Help

Note: If this is your first-time logging into eLearning/LiveLearning you will be prompted to reset your password and prompted to acknowledge an end-user agreement before proceeding.

Once logged into your account select the Active Courses tab on the left-hand top of the website.

        • There will be two columns of content:
          • eLearning Courses (these are self-paced courses)
          • LiveLearning Courses (these are scheduled instructor-led courses)

Prior to the first day of class, if available, it is advised to select the Pre-study Launch link for guidance on preparing for your upcoming LiveLearning event.

Note: Not all courses have pre-study as a requirement.

Once opened, the Pre-study link will mark as Completed

To install or update Webex and test the connection of a future LiveLearning course, select the Instructor Launch link. Instructions for Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS, and Apple iOS for iPad below.

Note: Date and time of the upcoming class will be displayed using a 24-hour clock.

Installation on Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS

On Windows and MacOS systems, clicking the Instructor Launch link will open a separate browser tab and automatically prompt to save or launch the Cisco_WebEx_Add-On.exe

Note: This may appear differently depending on the device and OS version being used.

If the installation file doesn't prompt for action, then select the Download the add-on again link.

Once the is executed a dialog will appear indicating that the installation process has begun.

Note: This may appear differently depending on the device and OS version being used.

Once your device has connected to the Webex session you will receive the following message below.

Select OK, close the application as normal, and select the Leave Session button.

Installation on Apple iOS for iPad

On Apple iOS for iPad, clicking the Instructor Launch link will open a separate browser tab and either start the session if Webex is already installed or prompt to Download the installation.

The Apple App Store will launch. To install Cisco Webex Meetings, select the download button and allow the application to install. You may be prompted for your Apple ID Password.

Once you see the button, the Webex installation is complete.

If the meeting has not started, you will see the message that your meeting has not started or already ended. This verifies that you have established a connection to the Webex server and that it works as intended.

Select Close

If your LiveLearning session has already started, you will be prompted for a Display Name and Email address. This information allows your instructor to identify you.

To interact with the LiveLearning class, it is necessary to allow Webex to access your device's microphone and camera.

Note: All classes require audio capabilities, but not all classes require two-way video capability. Participants will be advised of technology requirements based on course enrollment.

Test Webex Audio and Video

Google Chrome on Windows 10 and MacOS

To test Webex audio and video prior to the scheduled class time, visit www.webex.com/test-meeting.html

This is a test session. Enter any name and email address and select Join.

Once logged in, ensure that Use computer for audio is select.

To test the speaker and microphone click Test speaker and microphone

Select Test for the Speaker settings and listen for the chime.

Select Test for the Microphone settings and watch for the blue dashes to move from left to right indicating that audio is being received.

Apple Safari on iOS

To test Webex audio and video prior to the scheduled class time, visit www.webex.com/test-meeting.html

This is a test session. Enter any name and email address and select Join.

Select Open at the Open this page in "Webex Meet"? dialog.

Webex selects the default audio and video native to the iPad.

Select the button to toggle the button to and listen for the chime.

As you speak the green bar in the button will move indicating the system is recording your voice.

Select the button to Start My Video test.

Select the button to Stop My Video.

Error code: 30000

Webex Meetings on iOS 13.3 and later has a known bug which can be resolved by following the procedures.

Note: This bug has not been resolved by updating to iOS 15.x nor Webex 41.11.x

The preceding error can be resolved with the following steps:

      1. Open the iPad Settings
      2. In the left column, navigate to the Safari icon, and select.
      3. In the right column, navigate to the SETTINGS FOR WEBSITES -> Request Desktop Website link.
      4. In the right column, check the REQUEST DESKTOP WEBSITE ON -> All Websites is toggled to the left as indicated below.
      5. Relaunch the LiveLearning session. The screen should appear as below.
