EASA Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT) (eLearning Ground & Simulator)

Upon completion of this course, pilots will have the knowledge to understand why an UPSET occurs and how to minimize the risk of experiencing an UPSET. Pilots will complete the training in each seat that they intend to operate the aircraft from as Pilot Flying.  If training is conducted in both seats the pilot will receive 1.0 Simulator hour per seat.  

This course is the academic module designed to meet the EASA UPRT requirements as stipulated in AMC2 ORA.ATO.125 Training programme, AMC1 ORO.FC.120&130 and AMC1/2 ORO.FC.220&230 Operator conversion training and checking & recurrent training and checking.

Specifically, by the end of the course pilots will be able to:

  • Define what is meant by an aircraft “upset”
  • Identify factors and circumstances that can lead to an upset
  • Describe how to minimize the possibility of an upset
  • Recognize when an upset has occurred
  • Manage the flight deck to prevent an upset (CRM techniques)

EASA Upset Prevention & Recovery Training does not qualify for the FlightSafety Master Aviator program.

All training is seat specific and the other crew member participating will not receive a Record of Training for UPRT.   Training can be completed in the left seat, right seat, or both left and right seats:

Course Curriculum (Left or Right seat):  5.5 hours

  • eLearning Ground School:  3.0 hours
  • Examination:  .5 hour
  • Brief/Debrief: 1.0 hour
  • Simulator (Pilot Flying):  1.0 hour Pilot Flying (1.0 hour in either the Left or Right seat)

Course Curriculum (Left and Right seat):  6.5 hours

  • eLearning Ground School:  3.0 hours
  • Examination:  .5 hour
  • Brief/Debrief: 1.0 hour
  • Simulator (Pilot Flying):  2.0 hours Pilot Flying (1.0 hour in each the Left and Right seats)
